Porto Smart City: Explaining Digital Transformation Through a Game
How can we explain to children what a smart city is and how data and technology can contribute to improving the city they live in? It was with this question in mind that Porto Digital created “Porto Smart City”, an educational game designed for children that presents, in a simple, interactive and engaging way, the role of technology and data in the management and transformation of the city of Porto.
Through challenges related to traffic, air quality, public transport and waste management, the game helps children understand how different areas of the city are interconnected and how digital solutions can have a tangible impact on their everyday lives.
More than a recreational activity, “Porto Smart City” is a tool for engaging with younger citizens, helping to promote digital literacy and introducing them, from an early age, to the concept of a smart city and the role of technological innovation in addressing urban challenges.
The initiative also reinforces Porto Digital’s mission to bring digital transformation closer to citizens and make knowledge about the solutions contributing to a smarter, more connected and future-ready city more accessible.
