Porto Digital launches a new version of Explore Porto and offers a new mobility experience in the city

Porto Digital launches Explore Porto 2.0, the new version of the digital service that has been transforming the way residents and visitors explore the city. With a more intuitive interface and new features, this is an update to the service that provides useful and reliable information, curated by the Municipality, on mobility and points of interest in the city of Porto, reinforcing the Municipality's commitment to a more accessible, digital and smart city.  
Since its launch, Explore Porto has recorded over 4 million visits, with an average monthly increase in visits and users exceeding 25% in 2025, consolidating its position as an essential tool for discovering and exploring the city. The new version 2.0 responds to users' needs, offering an even more complete, personalised and interactive experience.  
 
Among the main new features is more dynamic and intuitive navigation, which allows users to explore the city more easily, using various search filters. The platform also provides real-time information on public transport and other shared mobility modes available in the city, such as scooters, bicycles and taxis. In addition, it provides detailed content on points of interest, events and itineraries, allowing users to plan their routes in a practical and informed manner. With the option of linking a personal account, users can also save their favourite places for later access. Another new feature is the new view of the city organised by neighbourhoods, which offers a fresh perspective on the urban fabric and makes it easier to explore by area. 

The platform remains accessible via mobile and desktop, through more than 1,100 QR codes and beacons installed at strategic points throughout the city, such as bus stops, tourist sites, and public spaces.  

The development of Explore Porto 2.0 incorporates lessons learned in recent years and also reflects the technological evolution promoted within the scope of urban innovation initiatives developed by Porto Digital, namely Explore Community, an open-source solution funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (Mobilising Agenda to Accelerate and Transform Tourism), which may be adapted by other cities in the future.  

The project involves the collaboration of various municipal entities and strategic partners from several departments of Porto City Council: Municipal Directorate for Citizen Services, Municipal Department of Economic Activities, Municipal Department of Mobility, Municipal Department of Tourism and Internationalisation, Municipal Division for the Requalification of Public Space, Ágora Porto and STCP.  

Explore Porto 2.0 is now available, inviting residents, tourists and curious visitors to rediscover the city with a more attentive, connected and informed eye.
