Porto Digital Gallery invites the city to rethink itself at the intersection between the physical and the digital, with works by 13 artists located in 13 different urban spaces

Next Saturday, 19 July, Porto will launch the Porto Digital Gallery, the country's first digital art circuit, which promises to reinvent the relationship between art and public space. This pioneering initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Porto, coordinated by Porto Digital and curated by the Municipal Gallery of Porto / Contemporary Art Department of Ágora — Cultura e Desporto do Porto, E.M.
The Porto Digital Gallery is a digital public art circuit that challenges artists, residents and visitors to explore the city through innovative artistic projects. By bringing together art, technology and territory, the project aims to stimulate collective reflection on the present and future of contemporary public space.

The first exhibition cycle, which opens on 19 July, includes thirteen artistic projects spread across different locations in downtown Porto. These works offer a hybrid experience — between physical and digital space — inviting the public to rediscover iconic locations and lesser-known corners of the city.

The interventions, accessible 24 hours a day and exclusively in the locations for which they were designed, include augmented reality installations, soundscapes, video, and photographic and sound archives, accessible via mobile devices (smartphones or tablets).
The artists include the ten selected through the Open Call, Cláudia Martinho, Diana Policarpo, Elisabete Sousa, Fá Maria, Francisco Pedro Oliveira, Maria Constanza Ferreira, Mariana Caló & Francisco Queimadela, Ruca Bourbon, S4RA and Tiago Cadete, and three guest artists: Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, Silvestre Pestana and Vera Mota.

Media Programme – Saturday, 19 July
4:30 p.m. — Start of the official visit for the media at Praça D. João I, attended by the Deputy Mayor of Porto, including a visit to four works (by artists Silvestre Pestana, Fá Maria, Cláudia Martinho and Vera Mota).

6:00 p.m. — Official opening to the public (at Praça D. João I)
6:15 p.m. — Presentation of the project

The digital works are located in the following spaces: Praça D. João I, Praça da Trindade, Jardim de São Lázaro, Jardim da Morêda, Travessa dos Congregados, Rua 31 de Janeiro, Rua de Passos Manuel, Rua de Fernandes Tomás, Rua de Alexandre Braga, Rua Doutor Alves da Veiga, Rua do Morgado de Mateus, the intersection of Rua de Fernandes Tomás and Rua de Santos Pousada, and the intersection of Rua de Santo André and Rua de Santo Ildefonso.
