Co-funded by the 2025 Open Call, an initiative of the Municipality of Porto and coordinated by Porto Digital, Maker Faire Porto will take place in the city for the first time from 18 to 20 September at Alfândega do Porto. The event brings together makers, inventors, artists, schools, universities, companies, associations and projects from across the country, promoting creativity, experimentation and innovation.

The initiative is also supported by municipal companies, higher education institutions, Ciência Viva Centres and companies from a range of sectors, particularly technology, sustainability and the circular economy.

Over three days, Alfândega do Porto will be transformed into a true laboratory-workshop dedicated to discovery and experimentation. The programme will feature projects and activities spanning technology, digital fabrication, robotics, electronics, science, arts, sustainability and the circular economy, among other areas.

Maker Faire Porto aims to bring the public closer to the projects and the people turning ideas into solutions through workshops, live demonstrations, hands-on experiences, exhibitions, talks and activities for families. The goal is to create an open space for discovery, learning and collaboration, where visitors of all ages can experiment and gain first-hand experience of the maker world.

The event is co-organised by VIVA Lab Porto, a digital fabrication and maker education laboratory and a member of the international Fab Lab network and the Precious Plastic network; CRU Creative Hub; The Backstage Agency; Makers Portugal; and Make, the organisation responsible for the official licensing of Maker Faire.

More than an event dedicated to the maker community, Maker Faire Porto aims to showcase the diversity, creativity and innovative capacity of makers from across the country, contributing to positioning Porto as a European reference at the intersection of creativity, technology and sustainable innovation.

18 September is dedicated to schools, while 19 and 20 September are open to the general public. Tickets range from €18 (1 day) to €23 (2 days), with discounts available for children and families.
